Curtis’ grandpa, Marv Dahman, spoke to our class earlier this year about the 2 Woolly Mammoth Skeletons discovered in Carl Junction. I included pictures of Marv and the items he brought. I also included pictures of the newspaper article about the find. I recorded the presention and will try to post it as a postcast soon.

I stumbled upon your classroom guest lecture regarding the mammoth find.
Did the mammoths make it to the World’s Fair? I could not remember if they were lost/stolen before or after the Fair. And when were they lost/stolen? I thought the St Louis World’s Fair was in 1904. Thanks.
Toby,
Thank you for visiting our class podcast. We would love for you to leave your comment on our class blog. J
Yes, the mammoth did make it to the Worlds Fair and was displayed in the Missouri room. However after the fair, the Mammoth skeletons never made it back home. It had disappeared, never to be seen again. Spooky…
As for the World Fair location, you are right. The 1904 World’s Fair was held in St. Louis. So the mammoth had been shipped from Carl Junction to St. Louis, but not back again. The owner may have secretly sold them to who-knows-who.
I think you were right:

1893.. in Chicago.
I hope Carl Junction is ready for Mammoths… stay tuned!
