Our class had a spelling bee. The unusual thing about this spelling bee is that half the contestants weren’t in the room. As a matter of fact they weren’t even in the state. We had a spelling bee with Mr. Rodriguez’ class in Los Angles, CA.
We met virtually via Skype video conferencing software. The video didn’t work and we had some technical difficulties. However, we managed several rounds of students in one classes giving spelling words to 1 of 5 contestant in the other class.
We ran out of time, but Ruby, Sierra, and Ashyn made it to the final round in our class. It was a great opportunity to meet third graders from half-way across the country. We have already visited their class blog and hope to do more with them in the future.
Here is the podcast of our virtual spelling bee. Enjoy!
