MAP Testing week

April 19, 2011 on 3:13 am | In News | No Comments

This week we are taking our MAP achievement tests. We test in Math and Communication Arts in 3rd grade.  We did session one in both today.  Tomorrow we take Communication Arts Session 3 (we do not take Session 2 this year because of budget cuts) in the morning and Math Session 2 in the afternoon.  Wednesday we take Comm. Arts Session 4 and Math Session 3 in the morning since they are both short.  School is out early that day (1:30).  Thursday we will have a Stressbuster game day.  We will also have our Homemade Instrument presentations on Thursday, since Good Friday is an early out day.  Friday, we will have a MAP Effort Party for those who put their best effort forward on the MAP test.   We dismiss at 11:30 on Friday.

The only thing we will have time to work on this week is Science.  Will finish almost all of our Sound unit this week.  We have just started an inventors research project.  They will create a powerpoint about why their person is the “World’s Greatest Inventor.”  We started them in the computer lab, but we need to be able to move them back and forth between the lab and classroom computers (and possibly home).  The easiest was I could figure out how to do that is to use Google Apps to create the slideshow.   The Google Apps link is also under Learning Locations on the right side of this page.  I gave them their log-in info. in class.

No homework or spelling words this week except for the Homemade Instrument project due Thursday.

We will present the instruments for our sound unit on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

We start taking the MAP achievement test this week in Math.  We will begin on Wednesday.  We will test in the morning.  Please be sure they are here and come bright-eyed and positive.

No spelling words this week because of testing

No homework Wednesday or Thursday this week.

We will begin a project this week researching a famous inventor.  We will use the information we find to create an online book called a Wikibook.  Ours will be a Wikijunior book called Famous Inventors.
